I’ve been so busy lately, I haven’t had much time to update this blog. Lots of work of late, a blessing. For now, here is a photo from tonight, made with my new Panasonic GF-1, a great new addition to my camera family. More on that soon. Here a waitress cleaning tables as Route 66 / Central Ave. is reflected in the dirty window. I love having a little camera that can capture that kind of detail in that kind of light.

I’m so grateful for so many  blessing in my life right now, most especially the birth of my third niece Malia Joy St. John. She was born July 10, 2010 at 5:35 pm at Presbyterian Hospital, weighing in at 5.28 pounds. Both her and Mom & Dad are doing great. Special thanks to my father for picking up my camera and making the picture of me holding her for the first time, a photograph that I will cherish for the rest of my life.

Hector Mediavilla, center, is a photographer from Barcelona Spain, who spent the past few weeks traveling around the southwestern USA and Mexico after sharing his work at Review Santa Fe. July 4th was his last night in the states before flying home, so we made a picture to mark the occasion, a five second exposure using sparklers to do the light writing. Jakob Schiller is on the left, and that’s me on the right.

I had a change to check out the swing dancing at Height Community Center with my new friends Brian and Marisa, who are regulars at the Tuesday night event and avid dancers. They are the couple still dancing after the music had stopped in the last picture, and I love the way Marisa looks at Brian. It’s the look of true love.

My friend Craig Fritz shot an incredible Seeing page on this a few years back at the Trib, and these images don’t even come close to his work from it, but it was fun to check out for myself.

My friends Anne and Lieb got married last year and welcomed their son Rhys in December. They had a party last weekend to celebrate and asked me to document the fiesta for them.

Today (June 8th) Rhys (the baby happily being handed about and adored in these picture) is having surgery to repair one of his kidneys. He is going to be just fine, but do me a favor and say a prayer for him if that is your thing or just send him good thoughts. (UPDATE: Rhys is out of the hospital and doing just fine) He is without a doubt the coolest babies I have ever met, must be a Sagittarius thing.

Of all the  titles I hold, I’m probably most proud to be called an uncle. That is why I and the rest of my family are so excited for the arrival of my newest niece in the coming weeks. Stay tuned everyone, much more to come.
