La Playa en Guatemala

A few pictures from a day at the beach. The water in the Caribbean is so warm, and today my back is so red.

These were all taken with my G9 using the underwater housing. They are straight out of the camera full frame, with no tonal or color correction, only sized for the Internet.

A few random frames

These are just a few photos I’ve made over the past few weeks here in and around Cobán. They had a big dance during the fair, everyone loves a parade, and the final is a kid named after my amigo who was is the Peace Corps here a few years ago. Possible paternity suit is pending.

Instant road trip

I’m still getting over the cold I caught on Sunday, the result of being to hot, then too cold, over and over while riding in the back of a truck for two hours both directions. The family I’m living with took us, without even an hours warning, to a small village called San Miguel, which is somewhere is Baja Verapaz near Salamá. I haven’t even had a chance to try to figure out where it is on the map yet, my nose has been running so much. While there we visited the oldest sugar mill in Guatemala and went swimming before the batteries went dead in my camera.

If I had it to do over again, or even if I’d had a few more minutes warning, there are a few things I might do differently, like wear sunscreen and close-toed shoes, but on the whole it was a great time.
