Fuentes Georgianas

I’m in Mexico for a week, but I’m way behind on posting so here are some pictures from my G9 with the underwater housing from Fuentes Georgianas in Guatemala, a natural hot springs outside Xela.

El Nahual

I did a bit of volunteer work with the good people over at El Hahual, making some pictures for them to use to hopefully update their website soon. I would encourage anyone interested in studying spanish and volunteering in Guatemala to consider their program.

‘More like state unfair’

Everything from the schools to most business shut down for the various fairs in Guatemala. I can’t even get water pressure in the shower because of the fair in Xela, though I don’t really understand why. Really no choice but to just enjoy it. The fair that is, not the trickle shower.

Happy Guatemalan Independence!

Today is the 187th anniversary of independence in Guatemala. I’ve been keeping busy in Xela, studying Spanish four hours a day and volunteering with a school for disadvantaged children in the afternoons, but I have had made time to make some pictures around town and at the futbol game. In case anyone is wondering, the guy stuck on the barbed-wire fence did manage to get down with his family jewels intact.
